Transitional Skincare for Autumn
Autumnal Skincare – How to make the transition?
With Summer officially over, I welcome the return of Autumn and all that it brings. Warmly clad for crisp, bright morning strolls, enjoying nature’s rich tapestry of colour, to longer cosier evenings by the fire, it is one of my favourite times of year.
This year’s autumnal equinox falls on Monday the 23rd September, bringing with it a drop in humidity levels, temperature and biting winds. This in combination with constant temperature variations during the day is enough to challenge even the strongest skin barrier. Rushing from warm centrally heated rooms to the cold outdoors can make skin feel dry, tight and sensitive and in need of an additional boost of nourishment and protection.
Just as we pack away our lighter summer layers for another year, transitioning our Autumnal Skincare routine should be tackled with a similar approach. With any change in season it’s important to adapt your skincare routine to keep it looking and feeling it’s best.
Regular gentle exfoliation is essential to remove surface dead cells and will allow for better absorption of products to follow, The Inkey List offers options for every skin type or concern.
Hyaluronic acid serums are wonderfully hydrating and will give new life to dry dehydrated skins, the Holos This Is More Facial & Eye Serum contains a pure blend of hyaluronic acid and cooling plant waters, high in antioxidants and healing aloe vera.
Reintroduce the use of facial oils if this was something you dropped from your routine during the warmer summer months. Plant oils carry antioxidants and essential fatty acids to protect the skin and help prevent the signs of premature ageing. Choose from the multi award winning Love Your Skin Anti-Ageing Facial Oil from Holos or the Rosehip Oil from the Inkey List.
Choose a moisturiser rich in emollients and essential fatty acids such as The Inkey List’s Hemp Oil Cream Moisturiser, a soothing lightweight formulation that calms irritated and stressed skin to leave it feeling energised and nourished.
Dr Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm is a 100% natural award winning hero balm with multiple uses. It’s perfect for keeping lips lusciously soft, It can also be used to add a glossy effect to lips and cheeks, to tame unruly brows and frizzy hair, to cuticles, dry heels, sunburn, rashes and eczema.
